Who runs Bureau Jo?

BureauJo is run by me, Joanne Keitch, a web designer with 15 years of experience in e-commerce, website development, and online business. I live and work in Rotterdam and have a background in senior management at Hewlett Packard (until 2010), later as an advertising specialist at Facebook and more recently as Manager of Customer Services for Trust International

In 2010, I founded FatJo, focusing on custom websites for MKB businesses, which eventually led to launching my own e-commerce children's clothing store. This grew into a strong online and physical brand, which I successfully sold in 2017. After that, I dedicated my time to helping brick-and-mortar shops establish and grow their online presence.

Can my website or shop really be ready in 24 hours?

Yes! If you provide all your content (text, images, logo, etc.) in advance, I can have your website or webshop live within 24 hours. If you don’t have everything ready yet, no worries—I’ll deliver the framework, and you can add your content later. Whatever, you will have a site or e-commerce shop within 24 hours. That is a promise.

BureauJo was born in 2025, when I made the decision to leave my role as Manager of Customer Services at Trust and fully embrace my entrepreneurial spirit once again.

Web design has always been more than just a skill—it’s my passion. Over the years, I’ve built high-end custom websites, first under FatJo, then through joannekeitch.com. Whether full-time or alongside my corporate roles, designing websites has always been something I love and excel at.

In 2025, I took a step back to assess the web design industry and saw a frustrating trend—a lack of true expertise, poor professionalism, and sky-high prices that simply weren’t justified. Businesses were left confused by unclear pricing, vague promises, and subpar results.

How much does a website cost?

Bureau Jo offers clear, upfront pricing with no hidden fees:

  • WordPress Website (Excluding Hosting): €950
  • WordPress Website (Including Hosting): €1,200
  • WooCommerce Webshop (Excluding Hosting): €1,400
  • WooCommerce Webshop (Including Hosting): €1,650

Are there really no hidden costs?

No. My pricing is 100% transparent. Thats a promise. The prices published on the website are what you pay. No more. No less.

I like to keep things clear and transparent, so here’s what’s not included in the base price:

Custom logo design – You’ll need to provide your own logo.
Copywriting – You provide your own text, but don’t worry—I’ll give you tips and suggestions along the way (because I have loads of experience and I’m really nice! 😉).
Future changes to the site – Once your site is live, any updates or changes can be made using Prepaid Support Credits, so you only pay for what you need, when you need it.

P.S. If you choose the non-hosted package, please note that hosting, email, and other extras are not included—you’ll need to arrange these separately.

What is the difference between a hosted website and a non-hosted website?

A hosted website means that I not only build your website but also take care of the hosting and technical management. This ensures that your site stays up-to-date, secure, and fast without you having to worry about it. I handle updates, backups, and security, so you can focus on your business.

A non-hosted website means that I build the website for you, but you are responsible for the hosting and maintenance. You choose your own hosting provider, manage your domain, and take care of updates and backups. This gives you full control, but it also requires some technical knowledge and responsibility.

Which option is best for you depends on how much control you want and how much time you're willing to spend on managing your website.

What are Prepaid Support Credits, and how do they work?

Prepaid Support Credits offer a flexible way to get updates, changes, or fixes for your website after it’s live. Instead of paying for each small task separately, you purchase support hours in advance and use them whenever needed.

You can buy a single hour or a bundle of hours at a discounted rate—the more you buy, the better the price.

How do I pay?

To secure your website build, a €250 booking fee is required when scheduling your project. This fee is:

  • Refundable up to 72 hours before the start date.
  • Deducted from the total price of your website.

The remaining balance is due on completion of the website, after you’ve had a chance to review it. Your site will only go live after full payment has been received.

Accepted payment methods:
You can pay via credit card, iDEAL, PayPal, Apple Pay, and other major payment options.

What if I need more features later?

Yes! You get a 12-month Divi AI license included, allowing you to fully customize your website to your liking. You can:

How do Hosting, WordPress, Divi, and a Domain Name fit together?

Think of building a website like constructing a house:

Domain Name = The address – Your domain name (e.g., www.yourbusiness.com) is like the street address of your house. It’s how people find your website online.

Hosting = The land – Hosting provides the space where your website lives, just like land is needed to build a house. Without hosting, your website has nowhere to exist online.

WordPress = The foundation and structure – WordPress is the framework of your site, like the walls, plumbing, and electrical system in a house. It provides the core functionality.

Will my website be mobile-friendly?

Can I choose the design style?

Absolutely! You choose the pages you want and I tailor the website design to fit your brand, style, and business needs. If you have a preferred color scheme, fonts, or layout ideas, I’ll incorporate them into the design.

What is needed from me to start the design?

To get started on your website, I’ll need a few key things from you:

  • Your logo (if you have one)
  • Brand colors and fonts (if you have specific preferences)
  • Website content, including text for pages such as Home, About, Services, and Contact
  • Images you’d like to use, such as product photos, team photos, or stock images you prefer
  • Your domain name (if you already have one, otherwise I can build the site on a temporary domain)

What if I don’t know what I want my website to look like?

Can I update the website myself after it’s built?

Yes! With your 12-month Divi AI license, you have full control to update and customize your website without needing technical skills.

Do you offer ongoing website maintenance?

Hosted Websites

Websites hosted by BureauJo are actively monitored, backed up daily, and kept online. They are regularly updated with the latest WordPress, Divi, and plugin updates to ensure security and performance.

Support Credits

For any additional updates, content changes, or design modifications, you can purchase Prepaid Support Credits. This allows you to request changes whenever needed, without ongoing contracts—just support when you need it.

What are Prepaid Support Credits, and how do they work?

Prepaid Support Credits allow you to buy support hours in advance for website updates, changes, or small fixes. Instead of paying per request, you purchase a block of hours and use them when needed.

Important: Prepaid Support Credits are for front-end changes only. They do not cover hosting issues, third-party service problems, or email support.

What kind of updates can I request with Prepaid Support Credits?

You can use Prepaid Support Credits for:

Do I need to maintain my website regularly?

Yes! Websites require regular updates to stay secure and functional. This includes:

  • Keeping WordPress and plugins up to date
  • Running security scans
  • Checking for broken links or outdated content

If you host with BureauJo, I ensure the server and security updates are taken care of. If you use your own hosting, you are responsible for all website maintenance.

Will my website break if I don’t maintain it?

Not immediately, but over time, an outdated website can become slow, vulnerable to security threats, or incompatible with new technologies.

What if my website has an issue after it goes live?
  • If you host with BureauJo, I monitor and maintain the server to prevent downtime.
  • If you host elsewhere, you must contact your hosting provider for support.
  • If the issue is related to the website (front-end) itself, you can purchase Prepaid Support Credits for fixes. 
Can I switch to a maintenance plan later?

You can switch to BureauJo hosting at any time and I will take care that the site remains up and running. 

For front-end fixes, you can buy Prepaid Support Credits whenever you need website updates.

What if I need major changes later?

If you need big changes (e.g., a website redesign, new features, or complex functionality), we can discuss a custom project quote.

How do I request website updates?

Simply purchase Prepaid Support Credits, send me the details of your request, and I’ll schedule the updates

Hosting, email and domain names

I don’t really understand what hosting is. Can you explain it?

Of course! Hosting is essentially renting space on the internet where your website lives. Just like a business needs a physical location, your website needs a digital home to be accessible online.

Here’s a simple way to think about it:

Hosting = The land your office is built on – It’s the server where all your website files, images, and data are stored. Without hosting, your website has nowhere to “live” online.
Domain name = Your office’s address – This is the unique web address people type in (like www.yourbusiness.com) to find your site.
Website = The actual office – The design, pages, and content that visitors see when they arrive at your website.
E-commerce shop = A fully equipped retail store – If your website is an online shop, hosting ensures your products, transactions, and customer data are stored safely and always accessible.

If you choose a hosted package, I take care of everything for you—fast, secure hosting, updates, and maintenance—so you don’t have to worry about anything technical. If you choose a non-hosted package, you’ll need to arrange hosting yourself through a provider.

Do you offer hosting services?

Yes! I offer hosting as part of the Website + Hosting package. My hosting includes:
SSL Certificate for security
Daily backups for data protection
Uptime monitoring to keep your site online
Professional email addresses (e.g., info@yourbusiness.com)

For the entire time that your site (and email)  is hosted by me, I will ensure that it remains up and running

What if I already have hosting?

That’s fine! If you already have a hosting provider, I will deliver the website files to you. However, I do not offer any support for third-party hosting providers.

Important: If you use your own hosting provider, you are responsible for everything related to hosting, including setup, performance, security, and support. BureauJo does not provide any assistance for third-party hosting.

What if I want to move my website to another hosting provider later?

You can transfer your website at any time. I will provide you with all necessary files to do so.

Will you help me set up my website on my own hosting?

No, I will provide you with the necessary website files, but you must follow your hosting provider’s instructions for setup.

Do I need to have my own domain name before working with BureauJo?

No, you don’t! While it’s handy to have your domain name ready, it’s not a requirement before we start.

I can build your website under a temporary domain, allowing you to see everything as it takes shape. Once you’ve purchased your domain, we can easily link it to your site when you’re ready.

This way, you don’t have to rush your decision—you can focus on getting the perfect website first and sort out the domain later!

Does BureauJo offer domain registration?

No, I don’t register domains directly, but I can guide you through the process and recommend reliable domain registrars.

If you haven’t purchased a domain yet, no worries! I can build your website on a temporary domain, and once you’ve secured your own domain, we’ll link it seamlessly to your site.

Can I transfer my domain to BureauJo’s hosting?

No, you will always keep your domain registered with your chosen provider. If you host with BureauJo, I will help you connect your domain to my hosting servers, but you remain the owner of the domain.

How do I renew my domain and hosting services?
  • Domain Renewal – You will receive renewal reminders from the company where you registered your domain. Make sure to renew it on time to keep your website online.

    Hosting Renewal – If you host with BureauJo, I will send you a renewal notice before your plan expires. You can extend your hosting with me, which includes hosting, email, and ongoing maintenance to keep everything secure and running smoothly. For the latest renewal costs, please refer to the renewal page.

    🔹 If you host elsewhere, you will need to handle your own hosting renewal directly with your provider.
